The STRANGEST country I've ever been too. Smack dab in the middle of Europe, Albania seems to have been lost in time. A closed country for almost 20 years, it appears to be about 50 years behind--except for one thing: EVERYONE has a Mercedes-Benz---all stolen. Every other aspect of the country screams poverty--roads, housing, general infrastructure.
And the bunkers. Bunkers are EVERYWHERE. Ready for a war. But in odd way, it is a really beautiful place, something historic about it. You feel like a real explorer here, as if you've opened a door in someones house to see all their dark secrets...and it is fascinating.
