We hop on the train at 8 in the morning from Cusco to Puno. This is supposed to be be a beautiful journey and we are not disappointed. Beautiful light here in the Altiplano and the colors of the clothes of the people are intensified like we haven't seen since Guatemala. The approach to Lake Titicaca at dusk is prempted with a short traverse through the city of Juliaca. This un-gem is the ugliest, dirtiest city we have seen on our trip. That says something. Puno is nothing special except for Lake Titicaca. We spend only one night here and head out to see the floating islands and a quick tour to the island village of Taquile. We look at a calendar and realize we need to catch a train in Oruro, Bolivia TOMORROW. We are on a quest to beat all international land speed records.
