Uruguay: a one day trip for the ever-coveted extra-passport stamp. While only in the country for about 8 hours, we saw several centuries of history in the compact town of Colonia. Obvious from the name, this town is colonial, a mix of Spanish and Portuguese architecture filled with people of German and Italian heritage. The streets are cobbled and the pace much slower than Buenos Aires (3 hours by slow ferry, 1 hour by fast ferry). We find ourselves enjoying the trip much more than we expected. Perhaps we got more out of it than an additional passport stamp
